Definition

A file is a collection of related computer information stored on your hard drive or other storage devices, like floppy disks or cloud accounts in the past. Files have different types; text files hold letters and words, image files store pictures, sound files contain audio recordings, and video files are for moving images. You can save new data to an existing file or create a brand-new one depending on what you're doing.
